It's an extraordinary claim. But scientists say you can extend your life AND stay fit throughout old age - just by a change of diet that switches on your youth gene... Professor Kenyon has found out why ­drastically reducing calories has such a remarkable effect


For centuries man has dreamed of being immortal, fixated on tales of magic fountains that restore youth, the rejuvenating power of a vampire’s bite or asses’ milk.



More recently came claims that injections of monkey glands or hormone supplements would make us live longer.



But so far, what’s actually worked are ­medical advances such as vaccines and better living conditions. Over the past century these have boosted average life expectancy by far more than 50 per cent, from 50 to 88.



The problem is that this longevity does not mean a healthier life. Indeed, thanks to chronic diseases such as diabetes and arthritis, we’re becoming like the Struldbruggs — the miserable characters in Gulliver’s Travels who were immortal, but still suffered from all the ­diseases of old age.



Gradually they lost their teeth, their hair, their sense of smell and taste. All their diseases got worse and their memory faded, so they had no idea who their friends and relations were. At funerals they wept because they couldn’t die.



But now a U.S. geneticist is thought to have discovered the secret to a long life, full of health and energy. And the answer might be as simple as cutting down on carbohydrates.




Professor Cynthia Kenyon, whom many experts believe should win the Nobel Prize for her research into ageing, has discovered that the carbohydrates we eat — from bananas and potatoes to bread, pasta, biscuits and cakes — directly affect two key genes that govern youthfulness and longevity.



She made her remarkable breakthrough after studying roundworms, specifically the C.elegans, a worm just a millimetre in size that lives in soil in temperate climates all over the world.



By tweaking some of their genes she has been able to help these worms live up to six times longer than normal. ‘Not only that, but we also know how to make them stay healthy all that time as well,’ she told an audience at the Wellcome Collection in London earlier this month.



So, what do worms have to do with us?



A great deal, it seems. Professor Kenyon’s work has been successfully repeated in labs around the world — the genes she found controlling ageing in worms do the same thing in rats and mice, probably monkeys, and there are signs they are active in humans, too.



This work has revolutionised our understanding of ageing, explains Jeff Holly, professor of clinical sciences at Bristol University.

‘Ten years ago we thought ageing was probably the result of a slow decay, a sort of rusting,’ he says. ‘But Professor Kenyon has shown that it’s not about wear and tear, but instead it is controlled by genes. That opens the possibility of slowing it down with drugs.’



So how does a worm hold the key to human ageing?

At 18 days old the average roundworm is flabby, ­sluggish and wrinkled. Two days later it will probably be dead.

However, Professor Kenyon, based at the University of California, San Francisco, found that damping down the activity of just one of their genes had a dramatic effect.



‘Instead of dying at about 20 days, our first set of mutant worms carried on living to more than 40 days,’ she says.



‘And they weren’t sluggish and worn out — they behaved like youngsters. It was a real shock. In human terms it was the equivalent of talking to someone you thought was about 30 and finding they were actually 60.’

With more sophisticated genetic manipulation, she now has some worms that have lived for an astonishing 144 days. An increase of that proportion would allow humans to live to 450.



Scientists already knew how to make laboratory animals live longer and healthier lives — you just cut back their calories to about three-quarters of their normal amount.



It’s not a practical solution for humans, because you feel cold and hungry all the time.



But what Professor Kenyon found out was why ­drastically reducing calories has such a remarkable effect.



She discovered that it changed the way two crucial genes behaved. It turned down the gene that controls insulin, which in turn switched on another gene, which acted like an elixir of life.



‘We jokingly called the first gene the Grim Reaper because when it’s switched on, the lifespan is fairly short,’ she explains.



The ­second ‘elixir’ gene seems to bring all the anti-ageing benefits — its proper name is DAF 16, but it was quickly nicknamed ‘Sweet Sixteen’ because it turned the worms into teenagers.



‘It sends out instructions to a whole range of repair and renovation genes,’ says Professor Kenyon.

‘Your supply of natural anti­oxidants goes up, damping down damaging free radicals.’



These are the ­compounds produced by our body and the environment, which are linked to a host of diseases from ­cancer to Alzheimer’s.



The Sweet Sixteen gene also ‘boosts compounds that make sure the skin and muscle-building ­proteins are working properly, the immune system becomes more active to fight infection and genes that are active in cancer get turned off,’ she adds.



Kenyon had stumbled on the genetic equivalent of Shangri-La, the fictional valley where people could live for years without really ageing.



Discovering the Grim Reaper gene has prompted the professor to ­dramatically alter her own diet, ­cutting right back on carbohydrates. That’s because carbs make your body produce more insulin (to mop up the extra blood sugar carbs ­produce); and more insulin means a more active Grim Reaper.



So the vital second gene, the ‘elixir’ one, won’t get turned on. To test this, last year she added a tiny amount of ­sugary glucose to the normal diet of some of her worms that had had their genes engineered so they were living much longer, healthier lives.



‘The effect was remarkable,’ she says. ‘The sugary glucose blocked the “youthful” genes and they lost most of the health gains.’



But was this just a special feature of the roundworm or did we all have it?



Following Kenyon’s lead, other researchers started looking for the Grim Reaper/ Sweet Sixteen combination in other animals — and of course in humans. They found it.



One clue came from a small remote community of dwarves living in northern Ecuador who are cancer-free. They are missing the part of the Grim Reaper gene that controls a hormone called insulin-like growth factor. The downside is they only grow to 4ft tall because the hormone is needed for growth.



But this missing bit of the Grim Reaper gene also means they don’t develop cancer and are less likely to suffer from heart disease or obesity.



Professor Jeff Holly, who specialises in insulin-like growth factor, confirms that it is linked to cancer of the prostate, breast and colon.



In fact raised insulin levels, triggered by high carbohydrate ­consumption, could be what ­connects many of our big killers.



Research is at its early stage, but raised insulin triggers an increase in cholesterol production in the liver, makes the walls of blood vessels ­contract so blood pressure goes up and stimulates the release of fats called triglycerides (linked to heart disease).



Professor Kenyon’s work is ­creating a wave of excitement among drug companies who’ve been researching molecules that will damp down the Grim Reaper and boost Sweet ­Sixteen, giving us the benefits of very low-calorie diets without the ­penalties. So far, none is very near being approved.



One way to reduce insulin levels is to exercise, which makes you more sensitive to it, which in turn means you need less of it. It also gives another health benefit in a surprising way. Exercise actually increases the level of damaging free radicals which stimulates the body to produce more protective anti-oxidants.



So should we all be trying to cut back on carbs to reduce our insulin levels?



It is a suggestion that flies in the face of 30 years of health advice to have a lower fat intake and eat plenty of long-lasting complex carbo­hydrates to keep the body supplied with energy.



There is no denying the extra­ordinary breakthrough Kenyon’s work represents and she ‘deserves the Nobel Prize for her findings about ageing’, says David Gems, deputy director of the Institute for Healthy Ageing at University ­College, London.



However he isn’t convinced we know enough for us all to start eating a low-carb diet.



‘The exact role of insulin in health and ageing is a promising and fascinating area,’ he says. ‘But I’m not sure the evidence for the benefit of cutting carbohydrates and keeping insulin levels down is strong enough yet.’



But Professor Kenyon herself doesn’t need convincing.



‘Carbo­hydrates, and especially refined ones like sugar, make you produce lots of extra insulin. I’ve been keeping my intake really low ever since I discovered this.



‘I’ve cut out all starch such as potatoes, noodles, rice, bread and pasta. Instead I have salads, but no sweet dressing, lots of olive oil and nuts, tons of green vegetables along with cheese, chicken and eggs.



‘I’ll have a hamburger without a bun and fish without batter or chips. I eat some fruit every day, but not too much and almost no processed food. I stay away from sweets, except 80 per cent chocolate.’



She is adamant it will be well worthwhile. ‘You could have two completely different careers if you could stay healthy to 90,’ she says. ‘How fascinating that would be.’

Dr Motoki Iwasaki, from the National Cancer Center, Tokyo, worked with a team of researchers to carry out the study.



He said: 'Results from human studies have been inconclusive. Our large-scale, population-based prospective cohort study is one of the first to include a wide range of tea intakes; women who drank green tea less than 1 cup per week to those who drank 10 or more cups per day.



'It found no overall association between green tea intake and the risk of breast cancer"


The study published in BioMed Central's open access journal Breast Cancer Research.

It assessed tea intake by a questionnaire, once at the beginning of the study and then again five years later.



Cancer incidence was assessed by notification from major local hospitals in the study area and population-based cancer registries.

Approximately 12 per cent of women drank green tea less than one cup per week while 27 per cent drank five or more cups per day.



Speaking about the survey, Dr Iwasaki said, 'The other major strength of the present study was its prospective design, in which information was collected before the subsequent diagnosis of breast cancer, thereby avoiding the exposure recall bias inherent to case-control studies.



'Drinking green tea as a beverage is unlikely to reduce the risk of breast cancer regardless of green tea type and number of cups'.""

Well-cooked meat 'may increase risk of bladder cancer'-

Cooking meat at high temperatures or until it is well done could increase the risk of bladder cancer, experts claim.




The warning to barbecue-lovers adds weight to other research which suggested charred meat may cause other cancers, including pancreatic cancer.



In the latest study, scientists found that people who eat meat regularly, especially meat that is well done or cooked at high temperatures, may have a higher chance of developing bladder cancer.



A 12-year study of 884 people with bladder cancer and 878 without it found people who consumed a lot of red meat were 48 per cent more likely to suffer bladder cancer than those with a low intake.



Over time, experts have shown that cooking meats at high temperatures creates chemicals not present in uncooked meats.



These heterocyclic amines (HCAs) are carcinogenic and are formed from the cooking of meats such as beef, pork and chicken.





HCAs develop when amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) and creatine (a chemical found in muscles) react at high cooking temperatures.



According to the National Cancer Institute in the US, experts identified 17 different HCAs that 'may pose human cancer risk'.



The latest study was led by Jie Lin, an assistant professor at the University of Texas, and was presented at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting in Washington DC.



The team looked at the association between meat intake, HCAs and bladder cancer.



The National Cancer Institute's food frequency questionnaire was used to assess dietary intake of different meats.



The results were split into four groups, from the lowest to the highest meat intake.



Compared with those in the lowest group of red meat intake, people were 4 per cent more likely to develop bladder cancer if they were in the third group up and 58 per cent more likely if they were in the second highest group of red meat intake.



Those people in the top group - people who consumed the most red meat - were 48 per cent more likely to suffer bladder cancer than those with the lowest intake.





'Higher intakes of beef steaks, pork chops and bacon were each associated with increased bladder cancer risk in a dose-response pattern,' the researchers said.



In addition, people who ate a lot of fried chicken and fried fish were at 'significantly increased risk'.




Red meats that were either medium or well done were linked with a 46 per cent and 94 per cent increased risk of cancer respectively compared with those that were cooked only long enough to still be rare.



When 177 people with bladder cancer and 306 people without the cancer were analysed separately, experts found that those with the highest estimated intake of three specific HCAs were more than two-and-a-half times as likely to develop bladder cancer as those with low estimated HCA intake.



The researchers also analysed each person's DNA to look for genetic variants in how the body responds to HCAs which interact with red meat intake to increase the risk of cancer.

They found that people with seven or more unfavourable genotypes who had the highest red meat intake were almost five times as likely to suffer bladder cancer as those without.



'These results strongly support that red meat intake and genetic variants in the HCA metabolic pathways jointly influence bladder cancer susceptibility,' the experts concluded.



Professor Xifeng Wu, who worked on the study, said: 'These results strongly support what we suspected: people who eat a lot of red meat, particularly well done red meat, such as fried or barbecued, seem to have a higher likelihood of bladder cancer.



'This effect is compounded if they carry high unfavourable genotypes in the HCA-metabolism pathway.'



Ms Lin said: 'It's well known that meat cooked at high temperatures generates HCAs that can cause cancer.




'We wanted to find out if meat consumption increases the risk of developing bladder cancer and how genetic differences may play a part.'



More than 10,000 new cases of bladder cancer are diagnosed each year in the UK.

Around 5,000 people die from it every year, and almost 90 per cent of deaths are in people over 65.



Dr Panagiota Mitrou, science programme manager for the World Cancer Research Fund, said: 'These are interesting findings that add to the evidence on the links between meat and cancer.



'The results should, though, be treated with caution as they are based on a single study. They would need to be replicated in other studies before we could make any conclusions.



'When we looked at all the evidence on meat and cancer, it did not suggest meat increases risk of bladder cancer.



'There is, though, convincing evidence that red and processed meat increase risk of bowel cancer.



;This is why we recommend that people aim to limit consumption of red meat to 500g - cooked weight - per week and to avoid eating processed meat.'



According to the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), people can reduce their risk from chemicals that may cause cancer by not allowing flames to touch food when barbecuing or grilling, and cooking at lower temperatures for a longer time.

Red meat link to higher risk of breast cancer

Women who frequently eat small amounts of red meat could be massively increasing their chances of developing breast cancer, researchers say.


Eating as little as 2oz of beef, pork or lamb every day can increase the risk of contracting the disease by 56 per cent in older, postmenopausal women, they warn.

And eating larger amounts of processed meats, such as sausages, bacon, ham and pies, pushed the risk to 64 per cent for the same group.

Even younger women, who have yet to hit the menopause, are statistically more likely to develop the disease if they eat red meat daily, according to researchers at Sheffield University who believe that red meat is contributing to the onset of breast cancer because it is a rich source of saturated fat.

Lead researcher Janet Cade, a professor of nutritional epidemiology and public health at the university, said: 'The findings are robust. Women consuming the most total meat, red meat and the processed meat were at the highest risk compared with non-meat eaters, although red and processed meat were only statistically significant post-menopausally.'

The research, published today in the British Journal of Cancer, involved 35,000 women aged between 35 and 69 who were studied over eight years.

At the start of the trial, they were asked to complete a 217-item food questionnaire from which they were divided into three groups - high, medium or low meat eaters.

They were compared with women in the sample who ate no meat.

The researchers also took into account smoking, weight, fruit and vegetable intake, class education and use of hormone replacement therapy.

Professor Cade said she was surprised that such a small amount of meat appeared to have a large effect.

A 2oz portion equates to just half a lamb chop or two thin slices of roast beef.

'This is a complex piece of work and it was designed specifically to compare different patterns of diet,' she added.

'Really these results apply to all women. I am not suggesting that everyone should become a vegetarian, that would be unrealistic, but the findings were strong and I think we should pay attention to them.'

The research follows similar studies which highlight the link between breast cancer and red meat.

Last year, U.S. researchers found that younger women who regularly ate 4.5oz of red meat a day were doubling their risk of developing breast cancer compared with those who ate it infrequently.

The research found that women who ate more than one and a half servings of red meat a day had almost double the risk of oestrogen-positive breast cancer - the most prevalent form - compared with those who ate fewer than three servings a week.

Researchers claimed the higher risk was caused by cancer - causing compounds in cooked or processed meat.

Henry Scowcroft, science information office at Cancer Research UK, said: 'Our best dietary advice to women worried about their breast cancer risk is to maintain a healthy body weight by taking regular exercise and avoiding large regular portions of fatty foods like red and processed meat and excess alcohol.'

Dimana apa yang disebut tadi akan berubah apabila sampai kepada penyampai yang seterusnya.

Bila orang bercerita adakah kita terima bulat bulat apa yang dikatakan? Atau kita buat kritikal analisis didalam kepala kita mencari logiknya cerita tadi.

Kemudian, bila kita perasan ceritanya ada sedikit tak masuk akal, adakah kita terima ceritanya ?

Saya terima beberapa email, dimana ada sesetengah kawan suka forward kan. Kemudian siap memesan, sila hebahkan email ini.
ini contohnya:

Diantara isikandung email ini menceritakan pengalaman misi ...... ke G4za.

Saya tidak mahu paste isi kandung email tersebut, kerana ianya adalah cerita pengalaman pemberita tersebut, kemudian ditulis di email cerita/ringkasan  tersebut oleh salah seorang yang hadir di majlis bercakap itu.

Saya rasa tidak selesa menerima email sedemikian kerana penerangan didalam kandungan email itu terlalu kosong kerana tiada fakta kajian mengambil kira sejarah dan masayarakat sekitar dan sosiology negara negara yang disebut didalam email yang diforward tadi. Cakap sedap saja..

Antara ayat didalam email tadi"Mesir .....kata ni Firaun modern. Nama je Islam tapi dah very secular.Sanggup kencing di dinding2 masjid"

Entahlah kenapa orang  kita suka forward benda email kadangkala fakta yang kelamkabut tanpa dikaji secara menyeluruh.. betulkah ada verification ke?
Masalah nya orang kita, terima bulat bulat apa orang sampaikan teru sampaikan ke seterusnya..jadilah sampai menyampai... Adakah kita kaji faktor persekitaran dan sebagainya sebelum kita pass our judgement dsb sebelum kita bercakap pengalaman sepintas lalu berdasarkan pandangan sebesar mata burung?
Kalau dikaji sejarah negara negara ini ada pelbagai kaum dan pelbagai jenis agama. Mereka bercakap satu bahasa iaitu bahasa Ar4b. Pakaian mereka  berjubah seperti orang Ar4b ayng ke masjid dan muslim.
Lain lain agama yang wujud dan dipraktiskan dinegara ar4b ini seperti koptik kristian, Coptic Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox  Churhc,koptik kat0lik,bahai, yahud1,atheist dan agn0stik,ugama zaman dulu orang mesir.

Negara negara ini seperti negara afgan1stan ada pengamal agama h1ndu atau budha, walaupun jumlahnya  amat kecil.
Rupa muka dan pakaian mereka tidak nampak perbezaanya dengan warga yang muslim. Ada keluar di rancangan di national geographic dan di satelitt tv, cara mereka berkomunikasi dan bergaul agak sukar diketahui ugamanya melainkan mereka bercakap dan menerangkan amalan hidup mereka.  Kaum kaum minoriti ini telah pun assimilate ke dalam cara hidup budaya masyarakat setempat  walaupun masih mengamalkan ugama kepercayaan mereka secara private.(Assimilate= The process whereby a minority group gradually adopts the customs and attitudes of the prevailing culture).


Persoalan nya betulkah apa yang disampaikan - sanggup kencing didinding masjid. Betulkah yang melakukan itu orang negara tersebut yang berigama Islam? Kepelbagaian masyarakat di negara  tersebut tidak dapat dipastikan samada perbuatan itu dilakukan oleh orang yang seagama.
Bila disebut rasuah, negara mesir ini seperti negara jiran diseberang selat Melaka, semua kena bayar rasuah dari pangkat bawah hinggalah ke peringkat teratas. Jika kita dinegara tersebut, amatlah sukar kita ketahui samada mereka ini benar benar seigama dengan kita, kerana konsep satu rukun mereka merukunkan mereka yang bukan melayu/islam memakai nama Islam. Kepadatan negara ini serupalah dgn kepadatan rakyat negara Mesir. Rasuah dinegara yg begitu sesak, kemiskinan dan kurang infrastruktur memanglah menjadi masalah. Semua adalah adat dunia.

Tapi yang tidak sedap bila keluar ayat seperti diatas.
Bila budaya hidup, percakapan, pakaian dan pergerakan sudah disatukan mengikut budaya setempat, maka bila sesuatu yang buruk atau yang tidak sedap dilihat, maka amat sukar untuk mengesahkan perbuatan tersebut dilakukan oleh orang seigama dengan kita. Maka sebagai seorang yang pro sepatutnya tidak perlulah menghentam isu sedemikian.

Ada kawan dari negara Pa13stine yang menetap di negara barat, memberitahu,  sebutan dan bacaan kalimah "Bismillah" sengaja disebut "Bismilleh" untuk membezakan; kerana bahasa yang mereka guna di pusat keagaaman mereka adalah bahasa yang sama dan membawa erti yang sama.....

Lagi satu dinegara jiran seperti di lubn9n dan sekitarnya,   kawan ini mengesahkan memang sukar membezakan samada mereka seigama atau tidak. Rupa,nama, pakaian selalunya lebih kurang sama..itulah sebabnya jika makan ke restauran orang dari negara Lubnan ini, kena hati hati. Pada mereka yang nampak seigama macam kita belum tentu seigama dgn kita. Macam inilah, tidak semua orang dari timur tengah berjubah, nama 4rab itu seigama dengan kita.
Nama ada bunyi nama macamnama kita atau ber bmakna didalam bahasa arab itu seigama.
Bila ditanya halalkah sudah tentu jawapan diberi halal kerana pada mereka selagi tiada daging biba, halal lah boleh dimakan. Itu konsep kefahaman dan pengertian mereka.
Kesimpulannya, jangan terus percaya bulat bulat 3rd  party information. Kaji balik lah.. kerana mungkin fakta tidak tepat digunakan.  Dan jangan kita terus cepat cepat nak sebarkan berita/email tersebut.

Jangan buat ibu kamu seperti orang bodoh dan nyanyuk. Hentikan perbuatan kamu meracun adik beradik dan keluarga seolah olah ibu kamu sudah mamai. Sudah diketahui umum kenapa kamu berbuat sedemikian. Kamu mahu semuanya pergi ditangan kamu bila ........

Ibu kamu masih ada haknya sebagai isteri keatas rumah dan hartanya dengan suaminya diatas hak hasil harta sepencarian. Dia disuruh berhenti kerana untuk menguruskan rumah tangga dan anak anak. Jangan kamu nak bermain silat kuntau belit kamu.
Kami tahu apa tujuan kamu berkelakuan sedemikian. Jangan jadi begitu hina. Ibu kamu sudah tahu tujuan kamu. Hentikan sikap buruk itu dan juga sikap mengampu orang yang tak betul kerana berharap dia akan memberi semua itu. Tidak selamat hidup jika berniat sedemikian.
Kamu kalau baca ini, tahulah kami tahu apa hasrat hati kamu, kerana hanya semata kamu anak lelaki seorang maka kamu ingat harta akan ke tangan kamu mengikut hukum faraid. Dengan mengabaikan dan meracuni semua orang yang ibukamu sudah nyanyuk kamu akan dapat semua.
Jangan kerana dia belum nyanyuk, cuma dia tertekan dengan perangai kamu kamu semua, terutama kamu.


Ibu bapa sekelian, jika ada anak lelaki terutama anak lelaki tunggal, jangan lah dimanjakan dan ditatang macam minyak yang penuh.
Kerana dia anak lelaki yang seoranglah mereka perlu dilasak kan dan dididik dari umur yang rebung segala disiplin dan sifat yang elok. Jangan lah muakan dan limpahkan dengan mainan, baju elok, segala benda yang dikehendaki sampai mereka jadi banyak lemak. Jangan ingat anak lelaki tidak perlu di adakan sistem curfew dan belajar.  Ini supaya anak itu berjaya ilmunya dan ada kelulusan dan dapat kerja elok. Ini lepak, hisap rokok makbapak tutup sebelah mata. Belajar kemana membuta semanjang bila tak lulus salahkan dunia.. kerja memilih. dapat kerja lagak besar.. padahal diritu kuli, sudahnya bergaduh.. ini semua suffering from superiority complex...
Kerana jika dah selalu senang dan dimuakan tak pernah susah, bila dah besar, bila selera dan citarasa dan ada keluarga sendiri, dia tidak tahu dan tidak mahu bersusah dan berusaha kerana hendak kan jalan yang mudah dan senang.

Maka diwaktu, ibu bapa sendiri diherdik....malah ada  berniat nak libas harta ibu bapa, tahu jika si bapa mati, dia nak gunakan haknya sebagai anak lelaki. Nak cari hasil malas, bini asik nak berkepit aja, semua nak berhidang, jadi jalan mudah bukan usaha, tapi libas mak bapak sendiri.

Insaflah kita semua. Anak nak masa kecil ibarat kain putih.. betul la tu.. kita yang mencorakkan nya.



Silapnya orang  kita beranggapan tidak apa esok bila dah besar ingat dia jasa nak jaga mak bapak.
Jangan harap dia ingat, terutama bila perasaan malas, sifat tamak dan nak mudah menghantui diri, cakap isteri lebih membawa ke syurga dari cakap ibu.
Jangan lah harap mereka akan ingat semua itu.
Kalau dari kecil ada sifat mulut celupar dan cerewet ajarkanlah supaya mereka tahu siapa yang perlu menghormati siapa. Jangan manjakan atau mollycoddle bila ada anak lelaki seorang. Disiplin yang tegas dan tiada compromise didalam didikan asas serta harian semasa mereka mula boleh berjalan sepatutnya kena lakukan oleh ibubapa dengan stabil dan teratur.

Selalunya orang kita silapnya anak perempuan dikawal rapi, anak lelaki dibiarkan begitu saja. Sudahnya anak lelaki selalunya tak menjadi. Anak perempuan juga yang menjadi.
Sepatutnya anak anak perempuan dan lelaki patut dididik dengan adil. Malah anak lelaki perlu dididik dengan lebih kawalan ketat dengan disiplin. Kalau mereka nak freedom, abis spm , dah bergaji, pergilah..
Kerana sebagai anak lelaki mereka perlu menanggung keluarga dan menjaga ibu bapa yang lebih tua, bukan melibas mereka dan menjadi parasit kepada orang tua mereka.

Entahlah...untuk seorang tua ini, cuma doa dan semoga Allah swt dapat melindunginya dari kejahilan dan hasad tamak anak nya sendiri.

haiwan sebagai rawatan terapi...(animal as theraphy)....

Ramai yang tidak sedar bahwa membela haiwan boleh dijadikan sebagai aktiviti menenangkan fikiran  dan mengurangkan tekanan atau stress. Ianya juga digunakan oleh masyarakat di negara barat untuk mendekati anak anak istemewa/cacat akal dsb untuk mendidik dan meltih anak anak itu supaya lebih tenang dan dapat berkomunikasi dengan ada haiwan haiwan belaan ini.
Pesakit pesakit yang terlantar di hospital dan untuk jangka masa yang panjang atau anak anak yang bermasalah untuk berkomunikasi dengan orang lain di latih dengan mendekati haiwan haiwan belaan seperti kucing, anjing dan sebagainya.
Kaedah ini digunakan untuk segala peringkat umur.. dan apabila yang sakit atau ada ber masalah sedikit sebanyak dapat merasakan kegembiraan melihat haiwan ini walaupun untuk beberapa minit sahaja.
Haiwan haiwan belaan juga dapat mengurangkan kemurungan kepada pesakit.

Kanak kanak istemewa yang tidak dapat bercakap dan berkomunikasi, mereka dapat merasakan kegembiraan melihat haiwan haiwan belaan ini.Haiwan haiwan ini membiarkan diri mereka di peluk, di pegang, disentuh dsb tanpa sedikit pun memberi sebarang reaksi.

Untuk yang sihat, membela ikan, kucing, anjing, arnab dsb akan rasa tenang dan fokus bila berehat dan melihat haiwan haiwan belaan mereka begitu tenang dan gembira. Ini dapat mengurangkan stress dan tekana n kepada pemilik.

Sebenarnya haiwan  haiwan ini cerdik dan mungkin ada extra 6th sense lebih dari manusia. Cuma kurang nya kita sahaja yang tidak memahami.  Zaman Nabi Allah Sulaiman A.S. haiwan boleh berkata kata...jadi tiada yang mustahilnya...haiwan tidak memahami atau dsbnya.

Pernah ada satu pengalaman, ada kucing belaan baru beranak. Kemudian bila anak dah 2 bulan, ada kawan ingin mengmbil anaknya. Si ibu kucing tadi panjat dan duduk diatas carrier box tadi dan duduk menjulurkan kepala nya . Bila disuakan anak kepada dia, lalu dicium dan dijilat, dipeluknya seketika agak lama digigit dan dijilat muka dan kepala anaknya. Lama baru lepas.. MasyaAllah, ini baru ibu kucing..

Satu pengalaman di tempat orang. Semasa menghantar k ke tempat kerja, lalulah simpang nak masuk ke jalan raya dan medan selera dan ke drive way hotel..
Jalan masih lengang kerana masih pukul 7 pagi. Tiba tiba terpaksa berhenti (kereta di pandu perlahan). Kucing keluar dari drive-way medan selera, terus berhenti di tengah tengah jalan dan duduk.  dari jauh nampak dan mengelak. K suruh pusing dan masuk kearah driveway dan berhenti ditepi. Dia cepat cepat ambil kucing yang masih duduk ditengah tengah jalan raya tadi.. diwaktu itu kereta mula banyak.
Kucing tersebut nampak kurus kering dan lemah sangat. Nampak sangat tak daya dan tak larat sangat sangat. Nampak sangat dehydrated dan nampak tulang dan kulit sahaja..
Bayangkan dimedan selera tersebut ada brkeliaran kucing dan anak kucing dengan mata berpenyakit dan kurus tak cukup makan. Kerana kurang sifat perikemanusiaan, mereka menghalau saja kucing tadi..walaupun ada banyak lebihan makanan untuk mereka. Entahlah...sedih nampak bila makan dimedan selera kucing disepak dsbnya..padahal kucing datang meminta makanan dengan nada simpati..bukan apa..
instead of dapat makanan, dapat tendangan/sepakan.

Back to the cat, K segera suruh bawa kucing ke klinik haiwan. Sayang pukul 1.30 tengahari, mati dia.

::lain cerita::
Lagi satu, bila A dapat tahu bapa dia meninggal dunia, datang kucing belaanya, duduk disebelah nya. Lalu diangkat sebelah paw  depannya, lalu di letak ke pehanya A. Langsung tidak diangkat angkat paw  tadi. A yang tengah menangis terus terhenti. Tiba tiba sahaja.. seperti faham apa yang A ucapkan dan tangiskan bila menerima berita tersebut.

Ada kawan  bercerita tadi. Dia masuk kerja lambat setengah hari kerana kucing belaan nya mati tiba tiba. Sebenarnya mereka melayan kucing yangg seekor ini dengan  baik seolah olah haiwan milik mereka. Padahal kucing tersebut kucing orang/stray/astrayed?
Kekerapan kucing ini datang dan duduk dan langsung tidak balik balik ke rumahnya, membuatkan mereka menganggap kucing tersebut macam ahli rumah mereka. Siap dibeli makanan kucing dsbnya. Anak perempuannya yang berumur 11 tahun turut mengambil tugas menjaga dan memberi makan dan grooming kucing tadi. Hampir 2 bulan kucing memberi kegembiraan dsb, tiba tiba kucing tadi mati. Kawan punyalah terkejut.. masuk halfday kena tanam kucing tadi. Dia siap beri anak dia peluk kucing tadi.. tapi dia kata dah keras ..Muka kawan sedih betul ... bersabar sahajalah..

Banyak lagi boleh ditulis, tapi cukup setakat ini cerita pasal kucing.
Kepada yang membela kucing, jika untuk sayang sahaja dan rasa tak larat nak bela anak cucu cicit nya, bawalah kucing ke Klinik haiwan jabatan haiwan untuk diperiksa dan spay. Dosa kerana haiwan disepak dan hidup bersepah kebuluran nak cari makan pun susah, kita pun sama berdosa. Dari pada berdosa mereka membiak dan  kemudian bila tak larat buang kat mana mana, lebih baik ikat atau spay kucing kucing ini.

Senang saja, kalau asthma, jangan guna karpet, kerana semua habuk minimikro masih terkumpul walaupun di vakuum.. Lagi satu, elakkan makan processed food dan makanan yang sejuk dan udara yyang lembap atau sejuk. Bulu  Kucing/haiwan bukanlah punca asthma semata....

Superfood - Semanggi - water cress - elok untuk membunuh sel kanser payudara?

Nama scientifik watercress watercress  adalah nasturtium officinale  dan dari kelumpuk Cruciferea. Hidup di merata dunia. Terbaru dari kajian dikatakan sayur watercress adalah mengandungi  bahan phenylethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) telah didapati menghalang protin yang membenarkan sel kanser untuk tumbuh. Ia juga menghalang pembekalan  sumber oksigen dan bekalan darah yang penting ke  sel kanser.
 
Siapa sangka kadangkala anak watercrest yang bercambah pucuk daun 2 helai macam taugeh dipotong dan buat perhiasan sahaja dipinggan makan  (garnishing) di hotel hotel atau di restoren yang mahal.


Saya selalu beli buat nasi ulam potong seinchi  panjang dicampurkan dengan nasi sebagai bahan nasi kerabu dan makan mentah mentah  begitu saja sebagai sayur dengan nasi atau mi sup, watercress ini. Atau sebagai sayur ulam salad begitu saja sahaja. Jika tidak pun tumis bawang putih ala kadar masukkan sayur ini.. makan dengan nasi.. sedap...
Sayur ini hidup dikawasan air mengalir yang bersih atau ditanam di tanah yang berair atau lembap.
Masyarakat Tionghua mengamalkan watercress sebagai bahan masakan  makanan mereka. Di negara kita ianya dikenali sebagai Chinese watercress atau dikalangan masyarakat Melayu dikenali sebagai daun semanggi.

"Eating watercress every day could help to prevent breast cancer, researchers have found.




The 'super food' can help to 'turn off' a signal in the body and thereby help starve the tumour of essential blood and oxygen, according to experts at the University of Southampton.

The compound that gives watercress a peppery taste has been found to block a protein that allows cancer tumours to grow

The found that volunteers who ate 80 grams of watercress a day, equivalent to a cereal bowl sized helping, had elevated levels of cancer-fighting molecules in their blood within hours of eating the salad leaves.

The research found that the compound, phenylethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC), which gives the salad leaf a peppery taste, is able to interfere with the function of a protein that plays a critical role in cancer development.



As tumours develop they rapidly outgrow their existing blood supply and further development isn't possible until they are able to obtain enough oxygen and nutrients to maintain the growth of cancer cells.



To get past this roadblock, the cancer cells send out signals which cause the surrounding normal tissues to grow new blood vessels into the tumour which then supply oxygen and nutrients.






The protein Hypoxia Inducible Factor (HIF) is at the heart of this process of inducing new blood vessel growth. However, PEITC, of which watercress is the richest natural source, was shown in laboratory tests to have the ability to block the function of HIF.






The research, which was funded by the Watercress Alliance, provides new hope to the 45,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer each year."
